I have been in practice as a social worker since 1996 and current focus on therapy for individuals and couples. I work with adults and adolescents.
I have substantial experience in working with children and teenagers, having worked in probation services for children for 6 years and residential child care for 13 years.
I have a strong interest in child and youth care and practice social work with children and adolescents from a child and youth care perspective. I have contributed several articles to child and youth care journals and presented at conferences on topics related to children's care and services. I previously served on the Board of Governors for the International Child and Youth Care Network.
I have attended training in clinical hypnosis with the South African Society for Clinical Hypnosis and the South African Institute for Hypnotism. I qualified as a certified hypnotherapist and registered with the GHC(UK) as an advanced hypnosis practitioner. I also trained in the Fertile Body Method - a mind-body approach to supporting individuals with fertility-related difficulties. I completed my master's degree dissertation in psychology on the topic "Hypnotherapy as psychological support for women with high risk pregnancy".
I use clinical hypnosis together with traditional counselling to help clients address difficulties such as:
- Depression, anxiety, panic and phobias
- Post-traumatic stress
- Stress management
- Pain management

- Substance abuse and dependence
I am trained in EMDR (Level II) by the EMDR International Association.
I am a master practitioner of Neuro Linguistic Programming (Association for NLP, UK). NLP is a collection of mind-body techniques and approaches that help clients to work in a very focused way to achieve therapeutic outcomes.
My qualifications include:
- M.A. in Psychology (Unisa) and Clinical Social Work (NMU)
- Certified Hypnotherapist (SAIH), advanced practitioner (GHC, UK)
- Master Practitioner of NLP (ANLP, UK)
- EMDR Level 2 (EMDRIA)
