Each participant will receive:

A clear understanding of:

  • The difficulties children experience with social interaction and possible causes such as Asperger’s syndrome or temperament;
  • The social interaction checklist;
  • Bullying and unhealthy relationships;
  • Intervention strategies for children aged 4-12 years and 13-18 years;
  • Treating selective mutism; and
  • Discovering friendship, making eye contact for interaction, appropriate body behaviour, group interaction, playing games, reading social cues and social interaction and building relationships.

As well as:

  • An opportunity to discuss challenging case scenarios and practice some of the techniques.

About the presenter:

Education: Elsa received social work training at UP and UJ and completed numerous courses in working with children.

Work experience: Elsa has been doing social work for 18 years, and has been in private practice for the last 9 years. She has presented workshops based on play therapy principles at Vista since 2011.

Specialty: She specializes in trauma therapy and EMDR with children, adolescents and adults.

Achievements: She has presented at a number of international and national conferences.
